Little Dragon- Ritual Union

Only 4 weeks until Little Dragon's third album 'Ritual Union' is due to be released, this event is definitely something to get excited about! To celebrate this glorious occasion, my 'tune of the day' is 'Thunder Love' from their second album 'Machine Dreams'. My iPod decided to be kind to me on Friday night and played it to me on my journey home after a few drinks, I was extremely grateful!

Yukimi's voice is one of the best of our generation and she's got some good dance moves too (I would love to see her and Mara TK dancing together haha, the 2 bands should collaborate. Can you imagine how amazing that would be?!?!).

I also found these goodies on the internet, make sure your bass is turned up for this one...

and...

Amazing!!! Check out PS22 Choir too. There's so much more from Little Dragon online and I could be posting here all night, instead you should just go and get their albums! Enjoy!

Electric Wire Hustle at Electrowerkz

Yesterday I went to see Electric Wire Hustle at Electrowerkz. What an amazing show!!! I hadn't seen them live before and decided not to check out youtube footage beforehand, I just wanted to see and hear firsthand how their music would sound live. 2009's Every Waking Hour was such a solid body of work and seeing some of those songs performed in front of me sounding as good as, if not better was just amazing.

The band had a chilled out vibe and oozed coolness without trying. Mara TK's voice is outstandingly smooth as well as his guitar playing, Myele Manzanza on drums had so much rhythm and skills he almost didn't seem human and Taay Ninh on keys & synths completed the sound. The three go together so well, it's a blessing that they met eachother!

Highlights included 'Again' and when the band where just 'jamming' and each member got to shine individually. The guys also performed a few new songs and by the sound of it, their next album will be just as good as their first. I can't wait...

Electric Wire Hustle will be at Glastonbury, so if you're about then go and see them (even if it's just to see Mara's dance moves, it's like electricity pulsing through his body. Legend!!!). Enjoy!

Dam-Funk 'Brookside Park'

'Tune of the day' today is Brookside Park from DâM-FunK. This song never fails to mellow me out and is nearly 10 minutes of pure bliss! It's one of my favourites from 2009's Toeachizown and 2 years later I'm still not bored.

Enjoy!

Robyn at the Olympics?

It's been a whole year since Robyn released Body Talk, Pt. 1 (what a great series!) and last week she released the video for 'Call Your Girlfriend'. Apparently it was shot in one take and shows Robyn dancing around a warehouse whilst performing the song. I personally think that if she takes this routine to the 2012 Olympics, she'd probably win a medal.

A simple yet brilliant video. Look out for the krumping towards the end. Enjoy!

High Park

I only found out about High Park yesterday and was playing his tunes all afternoon. They made me very happy! Here is his latest 'Rihanna's Fantasy', today's tune of the day.

According to his facebook, there should be a full length release soon but in the meantime, check out his tumblr and soundcloud where you can get a link to an old EP. Enjoy!

Catch-up Sunday

Yet another rainy Sunday... Oh well! I'm going to round off electronic week with a load of fine artists. First up is Eleven Tigers with Stableface from last year's excellent Clouds Are Mountains.

Good news is that Eleven Tigers will be releasing more material later this year, an album called 111. Keep an ear out for it!

Another artist featuring is Cornelia. I saw her at the same gig as The Simonsound and this was more proof that electronic music can definitely work live. This song was amazing!

I only recently found out about Holy Other whose going to be at the Shacklewell Arms this Tuesday (get tickets here). This song is so chilled and hypnotizing. It's got a cool official video too...

...and someone has edited Gasper Noe's Enter the Void to compliment 'Your Love'.

You can't talk about electronic music without talking about Mount Kimbie. Crooks & Lovers was one of the best albums from last year. Thanks to my TDTuesday family for putting me on to this. Here are two of my favourites.

Carbonated

Field
Hi-Soul (part of the TDTuesday family) also put me on to this guy, Teebs. Bound Ball sounds best when the sun is out but for now I'll just close my eyes and pretend.

This song reminded me of 310's Study in Scarlet from 'Recessional' another great album!

I saw Mi Ami a few months ago and it wasn't what I expected but it was still an excellent night! The group are making electronic music now that their bassist has left and this is my favourite from their Dolphins EP.

Hope you have enjoyed electronic week and to round it off, here is The Knife with You Make Me Like Charity. Classic!!!!

The Simonsound

Continuing with electronic week, I'd like to introduce Simon James and Matt Ford aka The Simonsound. Their debut album 'Reverse Engineering' was released a year ago but I only found it a few months back, so it's one of my favourites for this year!! The guys describe it as "’50s and ’60s-inspired space music, mood music for film and TV, haunting vocal tracks and switched-on cover versions of ’70s funk classics realised on the Moog synthesiser". It's available to listen to and purchase directly from their bandcamp.

The Simonsound will be at Spitalfields Festival later this month and are playing at Soundwave in Croatia in July. If you are about either of these events definitely then check them out, I saw them live and it was one of the most fun shows I have ever been to!! Enjoy!

Buck UK & Mirror State- Loved Me In A Way

I have decided to dedicate this week to electronic music and the first artist to feature is Buck UK. I don't know alot about him, he was born and raised in Manchester and now lives in America but listening to his soundcloud, the talent speaks for itself! Buck UK's ambient garage is the future!! Here is my tune of the day 'Loved Me In A Way' by Buck UK & Mirror State uploaded today.

Also, check out 'Once' and the Essáy remix which you can get from their record label Cut's bandcamp. Instant vintage!

Nite Jewel and randomness

Hey guys! The last few days have been filled with random madness including getting lost on my way to work (a journey I've been taking for nearly 2 years), feeling like Harry Potter looking for platform 9 3/4 (it was actually platform 16, but I had to run round corners to get to it), seeing some guy who used to be in Neighbours and telling the cab driver to just drive on the pavement when the road was blocked, he did it too!!! That's why I haven't posted anything for a few days so I'll share two videos to make up for it.

The first song is Nite Jewel's 'Am I Real?', a question I've been asking myself the past few days. Not in a dramatic soul searching kind of way but instead just trying to make sense of some of the funny randomness thats happened. It's been one of my favourite songs for a while and it's got a cool video to go with it directed by Jose Wolff and Delaney Bishop.

The second song is also from Nite Jewel. 'What Did He Say' is simply a good song and I'm still not bored after 3years.

Enjoy!

DeLooze- We Are Transient

Today's 'Tune of the Day' comes from DeLooze, a collective fronted by Stacey DeLooze. They fuse together deep electronics with rock and classical instrumentation to create a dark and brooding take on dramatically charged power pop. DeLooze have created a wave of much deserved hype, and after the release of latest single ‘We Are Transient’ just around the corner, this buzz is set to rise.

14 remixes feature on the full remix package which includes the BBC Radio 1 supported electro mix by Coin Operated Boy but my favourite is by Is Tropical. It sounds just like something I would like to hear in a very dark and crowded basement.

Her debut album is due to drop early 2012. ‘We are Transient’ is released on Gash Digital on the July 11th 2011. Enjoy!

Call me biased, but...

So the time has come to reveal something very special. I aimed to post this 10 hours ago but I ended up nearly being late for work and running for a train but never mind... it's here now. Today's 'Tune of the Day' comes from myself and Dirty Basin.

'It's Them' started out as a random scat and thanks to the production skills of Dirty Basin aka Mindspace, we now have this product which I am extremely proud to be featuring on. I hope you enjoy it and feel free to download and share!

Thanks!
