Miike Snow- Sans Soleil

Today's 'Tune of the Day' belongs to Miike Snow's 'Sans Soleil'. I haven't seen real sunshine in a few days so I thought it would suit the weather. Their debut album was one of my favourites in 2009 and the guys are now working on their new album so I'm pretty excited.
Let's pray for some sun, but in the meantime I hope you enjoy!

Pet Shark

Today I went to see the Travel Photographer of the Year Exhibition at the Royal Geographical Society. It was a good day as I got to see this picture taken by James Morgan. I am in love with this picture, the kid looks so happy with his pet shark and I can't help but smile everytime I see it. There were some other cool pictures there too but this one is my favourite! If you're about London town, you should try and see this exhibition, its running until June 10th.

Oddisee 'You Don't Close Your Eyes'

I remember when I went to see Little Brother at Jazz Cafe a couple of years ago and they said that they wanted to let someone come and say hello. That was the first time I saw or heard of Oddisee. My friend that I went with was shocked (and maybe a little disappointed) that I had never heard of him so he gave me a list of songs to go and listen to that night. Since then, Oddisee has been one of my favourite people in hip hop.

Oddisee has released 'You Don't Close Your Eyes' as a free download to coincide with the release of 'Odd Seasons'. The song is about the dynamics of a relationship turned cold. Clever wordplay and an effortless cadence propel this insightful tale of domestic apathy, which finds Oddisee questioning what changed in his relationship: "restaurant parking lots seem like the spot in the plot where you like to talk a lot, where it used to be the spot in the plot where the windows was steamed because the heat coming off was hot." Also along for the ride is frequent collaborator/keyboardist, Ralph Real, whose tenor adds an emotional intensity that helps accentuate the frustrations of unrequited love.

Stööki Launch Party

Greetings! I wanted to write yesterday but I was sooo tired. . The gallery tour didn't quite work out, I only made it to one haha but it was still cool I had a nice walk around London town. If you are about you should go and check out ''Eye of the Storm' by Hannah Westwood at Tenderpixel gallery.

After, I headed south of the river to Red Bull Studios where the launch of Stööki was taking place. Stööki is an independent brand based in Europe, crafting jewellery and t-shirts that combine two design elements into one. Presented with art installations that coincide with the theme of each piece. The Craftmakers are Luke, Nadia & Quincey and I had the pleasure of cutting Quincey's hair as part of the live show. They also had a tattooist and an artist doing body painting, pretty cool!!  I was pretty nervous so I thought I'd have a drink to calm me down, I had another as it seemed to be doing the trick. Then I got into the party mood so I had another, at this point I felt a little strange as the rum was chilling me out but I realised that it was Red Bull cola I was drinking. Durrrr! That had me feeling a little wired but I was feeling ready to do Q's hair and 'make my mark', the theme for the evening. Thankfully everything went well and it was a cool night. The collection, mostly hand made, looked really good too so go and place your orders as they are limited edition!

All in all, it was such a good way to end the week, I even got to hear one of my favourite Biggie tunes 'Going Back to Cali'.

Exciting news

Hey, just got some really exciting news about tonight, wish me luck!
In the meantime, I'm going on a free museum tour of London, got to make the most of my days off! Hope you all have a good day, J Moles.

SBTRKT- Wildfire (Drake Remix)

Morning moles and people, looks like it's going to be a nice day. Today's 'tune of the day' is 'Wildfire' from SBTRKT. I only found out about this group recently through Channel4's Abbey Road Debuts SBTRKT on Abbey Road Debuts 4oD
I would of been a fan just from that but I checked out their soundcloud and it's seriously good stuff! Happy to see they'll be at Field Day too, I'll be making sure that I see this performance.
The song features Yukimi from Little Dragon, I can't even express how much I love her voice. Can't wait for Little Dragon's 3rd album next month.
Drake has done a remix for 'Wildfire' available to download from his blog SBTRKT Feat. Yukimi- Wildfire (Drake RMX) but I personally prefer the calmness of the original.
Enjoy!

Night-time walk

Hey guys, went to eat with my friend today she was grinning like a cheshire cat trying to look normal haha. After, I had a nice stroll home listening to this classic album, Fleetwood Mac's 'Rumours'. It was a nice chilled evening, pollen was even floating around the air. In fact, the perfect settings for a night-time walk. Hope you enjoy and have a good evening!

Past, Present and Future

I'm also going to be doing something called past, present and future, posting music for all three sections. My first post of this involves 2 of my favourite artists. First up, representing the past is Bob Marley, the greatest reggae artist of all time (in my humble opinion) the more I hear his music, the more I like! And some of that stuff is 30years old!
The second artist is Bilal, I remember the first time I heard his first album, the time I saw him at Jazz Cafe (I think it was 2006?), eagerly waiting for his second album, throroughly enjoying his second album and watching him go from strength to strength since.

I have decided to let Bilal represent the present because of this cover version. The emotion he puts into the live video is amazing, nothing short of what I have come to expect from Bilal ever since I saw him live. This video also made me think of D'Angelo and what he could be doing if he was still on the scene.
Bilal also represents the future because I think he has something good to say and if people listen then the future can only be helped. Also it is a very cool and futuristic video.
Directed, shaped and cut by Mikael Colombu for Mikael Colombu Films. What a cool guy!

Enjoy! J Moles x

Baths- Lovely Bloodflow

I'm excited as this is my first post! I'm going to be doing something called 'Tune of the Day', something that I think is worth coming above ground for. Today's song is Bath's 'Lovely Bloodflow'. It's such a sick beat and the video is great too! I wish I saw him when he came to London a couple of months ago but I missed out, hopefully I will be there the next time! Enjoy!
